Drawing from testing data, we will discuss how real-world validation changes the risk conversation for projects in earthquake-prone regions like California and Chile.
The session will examine the engineering behind the Seismic Lateral Capture System and how it engages north-south oriented loads. We will also review the results across various tilt angles and mounting types, providing key lessons learned from full-scale progressive testing.

Speakers
In his role as Chief Engineer, Scott Van Pelt oversees the engineering functions of GameChange Solar globally. He is responsible for the execution, accuracy, and timeliness of all technical deliverables. A licensed Professional Engineer in over 20 states, he has served as Structural Engineer of Record for more than 30 GW of installed solar capacity. Scott also contributes to the industry through his work on various technical committees, including UL 2703, UL 3703, and IEC TC 82 for Solar Photovoltaic Energy Systems.
Scott graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lehigh University with degrees in Civil Engineering and Finance.
Moderator
Ryan joined pv magazine in 2021, bringing experience from a top residential solar installer and a U.S.-based inverter manufacturer. He holds a Master of Energy and Environmental Management degree at the University of Connecticut and a degree in Management with a certification in Sustainable Business Practices from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
