Increasingly different market and regulatory conditions. Which countries offer the strongest opportunities for PV, co-located projects and standalone BESS in 2027, and what drives their business cases? Leading analysts will compare key European markets, including Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK, and identify the regulatory and market changes that could shift the picture over the coming year. A closer look at selected markets will explore how major reforms – such as Germany’s new EEG and electricity market rules – translate into opportunities and risks for developers and investors.
New cybersecurity requirements are becoming a critical factor in procurement decisions for European solar and storage projects. Restrictions already affecting EU-backed and EIB-financed projects show that supplier risk is becoming a concrete investment issue, while the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the proposed revision of the EU Cybersecurity Act point to further changes ahead. This session will examine what developers need to consider when procuring components for projects in 2027 and beyond, what liability asset owners and operators could face if cybersecurity risks materialize, and whether security concerns can be addressed through technical and organizational safeguards rather than supplier restrictions alone.
Technical quality issues can still create major performance, safety and cost risks in PV projects, even when components meet standard certification requirements. Building on the findings presented at last year’s pv magazine Week Europe, this session will focus on what experts have learned over the past 12 months about unresolved and emerging failure modes – from glass breakage and junction-box issues to potentially hazardous defects in half-cell modules.
