pv magazine Global covers the global PV industry and is published only in English.

Gold standard

New Year is a time of reflection and resolution – in this edition we look back at some of the outstanding innovations of 2023 while exploring the plans and commitments that will shape the solar industry in 2024 and beyond.
In this edition we unveil 2023’s worthy pv magazine Awards winners and highly commended finalists. Over 224 entries from 39 countries were submitted, impressing our panel of 19 independent expert jurors. We can now reveal eight exemplary winners, each of which serves as an example of excellence within our industry.

Innovation doesn’t occur without challenges. Reports of broken module glass with no obvious cause have begun to crop up at large PV projects. In this edition, pv magazine examines what the root causes could be and why new testing methods could be key to unlocking a solution.
We get to grips with green hydrogen in the European Union. The first power-purchase agreement (PPA) for hydrogen production was signed in late 2022, but what might the future hold for this relatively new sector? Things are moving fast and EU policymakers’ desire to see hydrogen production scaled up raises plenty of questions around solar co-location and PPAs.
As utility-scale solar installations accelerate, one consequence is increased pressure on an already tight labor market. In the US state of Arizona, a recent robotics trial reveals how increased automation has potential to free up qualified staff to carry out more complex tasks.
